The engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. On Trailhawk models, the nine-speed comes with the Jeep_® Active Drive II 4x4 system for improved low-speed traction.

The 2017 Jeep_® Cherokee comes with safety features like all-speed traction control, Hill Start Assist, and electric brake and electronic roll mitigation systems for improved security whether you're on- or off-road.
